Rescued New Years Eve

I was sitting at home doing a little bookwork when I got a call from a distraught cat owner. Russian the cat has been stuck up a palm for two days and will not come down even for his favourite food. So I called up my offsider and off we go to be "heroes".

I added the music with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek.

Cheers,
Doc Holliday.

DIY vs Professional tree care

Is it cheaper to DIY tree work or hire a professional? Watch and find out.

A tree, some crows and Wolfmother

How do you get a good nights sleep with crows in your tree starting up at 4.30am? Watch how its done and enjoy the awesome sound of Wolfmother at the same time.

Another Tree Bites The Dust, tree removal by professionals.

A dead Liquidambar tree next to a fence and a pool. Used a zip line to avoid shock loading unreliable wood. Fun job!

Don’t get Ripped Off, tree removal by professionals.

Professional work at 1/3 the price?!?!?!

Zubat Pwns Pine Tree, tree removal by professionals.

This is a removal of a 25 metre Norfolk Island Pine. To win a bet I limbed this tree (150 pruning cuts) with a Silky Zubat hand saw. So yes it can be done and yes I was sore the following day. Cheers!

A Date with a Palm Tree, tree removal by professionals.

Removing a 12 metre high Canary Island Date Palm from a Duncraig back yard. This puppy weighed over 5 tonnes and has nasty spines 200mm (8 inches) long. Check out what is in the pool next to it...!!

“I watched Titanic and cried. I knew my IQ had been damaged” :Stephen King

There’s a tree in my dam!

Fallen Marri in a dam on a local horse property. Clay is too soft for vehicles and as slippery as all hell. A fun couple of hours on a Saturday.

Big tree, small yard!

If you have a big tree, close to your house, do you want it removed as fast as possible, or as carefully as possible?

Over the top—crane removal.

This Eucalyptus gomphocephala (Tuart) had been topped a number of times. As a result the tree had become unsafe and had already dropped a limb on the neighbours house. Rather than risk climbing, we used a 60 metre EWP and a 95 tonne crane. We started at 7am and finished by 1pm. If it has got to go, get it done fast, get it done safely.

Get a haircut and get a real job - palm style.

Taking the dead fronds from a Washingtonia is not only one of the dirtiest climbing jobs you can do, it is also one of the deadliest. Most climbers cut from beneath the skirt and if it collapses, which happens regularly, you end up with all that weight on your chest and your lungs full of dust. AS4373 says that if you have more than 3 years of growth you must prune from the top down. This is how we do it. No spurs required! Oh and Bob really is my big brother (in law).
